Supporting teams to gain actionable insights .
WHAT’S ACTUALLY GOING ON?
Every team has a picture of what's going on.
Problems arise, and opportunities are missed, when that picture is incomplete or inaccurate…and nobody knows it.
So the team keeps having the same arguments, arriving at decisions that don't land, and achieving results that disappoint.
The ones who know something is wrong can't name it. The ones who could name it don't feel safe enough to say it. And everyone keeps moving in a direction that isn't quite right.
These teams are either fighting, stuck, complacent, or searching.
What they have in common is this: they're acting from a picture of their situation that hasn't been looked at fully, honestly, and together.
“It ain’t what you don’t know that gets you into trouble. It’s what you know for sure that just ain’t so. ”
WHY DO INSIGHTS MATTER?
A decade of working in entrepreneurial environments has taught me one thing: when teams get stuck in their perspective on what’s going on, while everything else is changing, hurt is around the corner.
Along the way, I discovered I have a knack for seeing the big picture, reading what’s actually going on in groups, and asking questions that open things up. I love applying models and processes that bring order, simplicity, and pragmatism to complexity.
I also came to this work through my personal search for it. I spent a long time stuck, struggling to change my perspective and find new ways of seeing and doing.
This is why I facilitate teams to gain new insights that change how they understand, act, see, and feel.
Once a team (and individuals) can see their situation more clearly, freed from their ineffective data and fixed perspectives, decision-making and action become straightforward.
HOW DO TEAMS GAIN INSIGHTS?
I help teams gain insights through a structured process built on the Data-Frame model of sensemaking, which explains how the best decision-makers figure out what's going on before they act.
Discovery: We clarify the purpose and outcomes of the process together.
Diagnosis: We survey and interview the team to understand their available data and perspectives on the situation.
Programme: Three half-day sessions:
Session 1 | Seeing What Is: We explore the science of how we understand situations, and apply it to theirs.
Session 2 | Looking Together: We pressure-test all the relevant data and how it's shaping what they see.
Session 3 | Making Sense: We build a shared picture of what's actually happening, accurate enough to act from effectively.
4-6 six weeks is recommended for the whole engagement. It’s a rigorous process that leaves the team with a picture of their world they trust, and a clear report on what they could do next, and why.
If this is of interest, I’d love to connect.
